Teachers Ning Meetings. Monday 15 Feb, 2:40 - 3:00 Multimedia Lab 3
Time to get together to discuss what has been happening in the QA Ning world and what is coming over the horizon. Hope you can make this face-to-face. If you can't, I and the Ning would still like to hear from you on what you are doing with computers in your classes and what issues you are facing. Even if you can't make it love to hear that you're still on board and in touch.
PS.. If you want to get on board and haven't signed-in yet come ten minutes early or catch-up with me beforehand.
eLearning Update..as of Monday 8 February 2010
- Student "Lighthouse" computer support group is working in their own Ning http://qastudentfanah.ning.com/ They are using it to share problems, solutions and to help build a picture of 1:1 laptop use
- Keep up to date on the teachers' Ning http://qaning.ning.com/ with elearning developments, plans and projects
- Departments are working on what software needs to be loaded on the laptop image for 2010-11. Make sure you discuss with your department elearning representative and HOD
- Thomas Friedman spoke in Doha on Monday 1 February. Many QA teachers attended. Check out the press report here

Have you checked out LiveJournal. It is being used in Grade 8 for students to set up private writing spaces that they share with their teacher

Check out: ISTE's How does technology influence student learning. A 2002 report with something to say about how far we have travelled, or are yet to travel

- Grade 10 Spanish Ning for language expression, communication and collaboration
- Grade 9 Humanities: Topical Issue in the Americas. Diverse use of Web 2 tools posted to each student's eportfolio wiki
- Grade 8 English: Use of LiveJournal to record writing journal as part of Book Group project
- Grade 7 Tech-IT: Collective Knowledge wiki on Global Issues here Initial research is being posted to the wiki for other students to collaborate.
- Grade 6 Science: students researched light microscopes

What's New?
This section will announce significant developments of which you might not have been aware. At the moment the IT Department is working on
- The 1:1 laptop roll-out: (See 1:1 laptop page for more) All Grade 7 and 8 students have their HP Table laptop
- The Certificate of Educational Technologies program: Proceeding
- Student eportfolios: ePortfolios have been set-up for Grades 7, 8 and 9 students for subject project work that incorporates student laptops and other digital technologies.
- Student edtech support group: Has met and will be developed as a support for classroom use of ICTs
